On June 1, 2026, the CFTC said it was awarding more than $8 million to five whistleblowers whose information led to resolution of an enforcement action. Release 9245-26 says that, consistent with confidentiality rules, the agency does not disclose the specific enforcement action or the exact award amount. This summary does not narrow “more than $8 million.” 1 Source 1

The release says eligible whistleblowers may receive between 10 and 30 percent of monetary sanctions collected, paid from the Customer Protection Fund. It says that since the first award in 2014 the CFTC has awarded more than $430 million, associated with actions that resulted in more than $3.7 billion in monetary sanctions. 1 Source 1
